Manhattan Beach in June

Going to the beach!  Sounds wonderful, it was wonderful.  Even with what we were told was the traditional "June gloom" with mostly overcast.  We had a great time.  The high temp was 70 degrees and windy.  The water of course was WAY COLDER.  The kids braved it anyways and had a blast.
We were just a block's walk away from the beach.
It is a beautiful beach house.

You definitely needed a wetsuit to brave the water.
Jared, Ethan and Rachel tried boogie boarding.

I think Brady mostly loved digging in the sand.  The part he really, really didn't like was getting sprayed off outside of the beach house with the water hose.  But it had to happen because of so much sand.
Rachel did brave the ocean waters but only up to her waist.
We all loved building sand castles, with motes and villages, and more
only to see them washed away by the tide.

Running from the waves and each other provided tons of entertainment.
We had a great time. In fact I'm still finding sand in the strangest places! Maike unfortunately wasn't in these pictures because the day before on the beach, she got sunburned pretty bad and decided to stay at the condo and read.
