How fun is it to pretend that we have a teenage daughter? We got a taste these last few weeks helping Maike get ready for Preference. Her high school does so many dances, about 1 a month, it is hard to keep them straight. This one, Preference, is a big one and it is a girl's choice. A couple of weeks ago, Rachel and I went dress shopping with Maike and Karin. It was fun watching Maike try on all the different styles. She had a good idea of what she wanted - it had to be a long dress. We narrowed it down to 2 dresses. Then went home to sleep on it. The following Tuesday, back to the mall, tried on the dresses and easily picked the perfect one. Lots of fun color, just like Maike's personality. She calls it "The hard candy dress".

She got everything prepared with a few other couples and they were ready for Saturday to come (that was yesterday). After their fun catered lunch, one of the mom's is a caterer, they hung out for a little while. Then Maike came home and off to the hairdresser for the perfect hairstyle.
I must say it was hard for Maike to contain all her excitement when the hairstyle was complete. Once we got home, she finished her makeup and she looked absolutely beautiful. Then off she went.
As her midnight curfew quickly approached, we heard her laughing and happily open the front door at 11:45pm. We could tell by her huge smile that this was a night that she will remember for a long time. So much fun. I wish her parents could have seen her!
